New quality levels for Life Science and PCR Consumables

Quality matters for Life Science Consumables e.g. for PCR and cell culture when it comes to avoiding false results and sample loss. In this seminar, you will learn about the new BIO-CERT® quality levels and how they can help your customer to find the right product. Last but not least you will get an inside view of our cleanroom where our products are manufactured under controlled conditions.

Background of the presenter:
Dr Roger Rompf studied biology in Frankfurt where he finalised his PhD in the plant molecular biology group and conducted numerous experiments on gene expression in cell cultures. He has established and published new methods for analysis using RT-PCR. He has had sales experience in liquid handling for many years and has been working for BRAND in southern Germany since 2007.

How to optimize your PCR results

Reliable PCR results and contamination avoidance through advanced PCR disposables and sealing options

In this webinar, you will learn about possibilities to avoid both false negative and false positive results based on practcal workbench experience. The focus is on contamination prevention. The requirements wll be illustrated with a Covid-19 test protocol.

Agenda:

  • Overview – influencing factors for the quality of PCR results
  • Avoiding contamination from consumables
  • Avoiding contamination during work
  • Evaporation minimization for reproducible results with small sample volumes

Cell culture inserts - new products open up new application possibilities

What's special to cell culture inserts and where do these scaffolds show superior performance or shortcomings?

Cell culture Inserts offer scaffolds or microporous membranes which serve as substrates forcultivated cells. Dependent on different structures, scaffolds support the development of destinct culture compartments and improve nutrient supply to cells leading to a higher level of morphological and physiological differentiation. However, inserts and scaffolds have to support culture handling and the way of analysis, respectively. In this webinar we will give an overview about cell culture insert and focus on the use of track-etched membranes.

Agenda:

  • Overview – main types of cell culture inserts
  • Working with track-edged membranes
  • Practical tipps and tricks for your cell culture

Background of presenter:

Nicolas Frank studied biology at the University of Würzburg. During his PhD thesis at the Institute of Clinical Neurobiology, he investigated neurotrophic factor-induced signaling in primary embryonic and stem cell-derived motoneurons from mouse models of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and spinal muscular atrophy. He is familiar with a wide range of molecular techniques and live imaging applications. Nicolas joined BRAND's product management as Product Specialist Cell Culture in September 2012. Today, Nicolas drives BRAND's cell culture products as Product Manager Cell Culture.

Brand presents new BIO-CERT® quality levels

Simply the right consumables for your life science application.
With the four new quality levels under the BIO-CERT® brand, BRAND offers quality, safety and easy selection for applications such as PCR, cell culture and liquid handling. For this purpose, BRAND's life science experts have analysed the application requirements in close cooperation with users and defined quality levels geared to the respective application. Exactly what is needed for the respective application is now displayed in a precisely defined and reliable form.

BRANDplates®, 96-well, inertGrade™, PS, transparent, U-bottom, BIO-CERT® CELL CULTURE STERILE

For cultivation of suspension cell lines. Especially suited for cell cultures, when adhesion is not desired. Optimized surface characteristics reduce cell adhesion and protein adsorption, minimizing enzyme and cellular activation. Inhibits early differentiation of stem cells. Clearly distinguishable through the color code: orange, embossed alphanumeric coding for 96-well standard plates. PS, sterile, with lids. PCR tubes, PP, 0.5 ml, BIO-CERT® PCR QUALITY, attached flat cap, rose

PCR single tubes from BRAND with volumes of 0.2 and 0.5 ml are the efficient solution for small and medium sample volumes. The extra thin-walled tubes ensure optimum heat transfer during PCR, for shorter cycle times over a wide range of temperatures. To prevent sample losses from heating, the caps reliably seal the vessels with their tight fit. This ensures quality and repeatable results even with small sample volumes. At the same time, the caps can be opened and closed with ease.Tubes are available in several colors, allowing easy sample tracking at a glance. 24-well PCR-plates, non-skirted, PP, transparent, 0.2 ml, for qPCR, BIO-CERT® PCR QUALITY

With the 24-well PCR plates, you can handle medium sample volumes with ease. The compact format works with all common thermal cyclers and provides easy handling. To avoid cross-contamination from well to well, the edges of the wells are slightly raised so that you always obtain reliable results. Thin vessel walls ensure rapid temperature transfer for short cycle times. The cleanroom quality of PCR consumables from BRAND guarantees reliable results.
